###### TeamSpeak-Server 2.0.20.1 Readme ###### ### Important Info ### This is yet another release candidate 2 (rc2) of the TeamSpeak2 series. Anyhow, you need a fairly up-to-date client version in order to get connected AND be able to use all the features. So, in order to get connected you need a rc2 client (everything 2.0.28.40 and higher). To be able to use some of the new features the server provides (most notably: speex codecs) you need 2.0.29.47 at the least, though it's recommended to switch to the newest client available (at time of writing 2.0.32.60). If you are upgrading from an old rc2 server (version: 2.0.19.16 to 2.0.19.49) then just copy your server.ini, server.log and (most importantly) server.dbs into the new server folder, and start the new server. Then you will have the same channels, registered users, permission settings etc. If on the other hand you are upgrading from a rc1 server (version: everything older than 2.0.19.16), then you need to convert your server database to the new database format (tools to do this are available here: http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4068 ), or you will have to live with the loss of all data stored in the database (server data, player data, channel data, settings). ### How does this server thing work? ### Please note: There is a preliminary server manual available, if in doubt, read it :o) http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4369 ### Whats new ### Compared with last rc2 release - MySQL support should be working fine now, if you want to use it refer to the included "INSTALL.mysql" file, that will walk you through - Many improvements to the tcpquery interface, most fun are timeban and idle kicking - greatly improved logging, make sure to have a look at the options that can be found in the server.ini - Many bugs were fixed, including some that could crash your server, and others that might affect security Compared with rc1 - New permissions system This allows you to configure the permissions for your users. You might want to check and configure it. - Telnet / tcpquery interface Please check http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3824 or read the server manual for info on it. - Ban players (IP based) - Move players This allows SA (or others see New permissions system) to drag & drop people on the server to different channels. - And much more :o) [for details view the included Changelog file] ### Frequently Asked Questions ### Q: I installed the server, how do I become an Admin on it?
